Dental Malpractice Client Receives $950,000 Settlement
Huegli Fraser's client was awarded $950,000 for her pain, suffering and lost ability to work after a botched dental procedure.
Her mental nerve — which supplies feeling to the lower lip and chin — was severed during what was supposed to be a routine dental procedure at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). She later discovered that the procedure, a tooth extraction, was initiated not by an experienced physician, but by a first-year resident who had never performed the procedure before. She continues to suffer pain and has trouble laughing and even smiling.
OHSU offered the settlement 3 days before the medical malpractice trial was supposed to begin.
